Cantronic Systems Secures Milestone Order from U.S. Navy (Nov. 1, 2002)

Vancouver, BC, Canada -Cantronic Systems Inc has been awarded a key role in a world-class $33 million surveillance system contract to increase perimeter security of naval assets in the Pacific. Awarded by the Commander of U.S. Naval Forces Japan (CNFJ), the contract marks the beginning of CNFJ's Force Protection initiative to increase shoreline, pier, and perimeter video surveillance systems in the region.

Cantronic active infrared night vision surveillance systems and thermal imaging cameras have been chosen by the U.S. Navy to be installed in key naval bases throughout Japan. CNFJ will have the ability to control and view real-time video from over 700 Cantronic cameras in all weather conditions, day or night, across twenty-four facilities in the region. The Cantronic system has capabilities not previously attained with a near infrared camera. The original range for this technology was limited to 100 - 200 metres but Cantronic has increased this capacity to an industry leading 800+ meters, which will significantly improve the U.S. Navy's reaction time to threats. Force Protection personnel will be able to make more informed decisions and take appropriate actions sooner to safeguard personnel and valuable naval assets at these vital overseas facilities.

"We are excited that our advanced technology will significantly increase the US Navy's perimeter security in the Pacific." - James Zahn, President & CEO, Cantronic Systems Inc.
